WHAT WE DO

The Initiative

The Faith-Based Housing Initiative links design and development talent with faith leaders to learn, collaborate, and ask questions about the process of transforming into housing. There are speakers, workshops, and dinner parties where people can learn from the experts and one another.

PART 01

Speaker Symposium

Working with the local host, the FBHI provides up to four topical experts to assist and inspire faith organizations to proceed with the difficult work of developing housing.  Speakers include experts in the field of architecture, development, and policy, curated with local talent and needs. The symposium can be private or (time-contingent) coordinated with a larger public event.

In partnership with Southern Urbanism.

PART 02

Design Workshop

In a ½ day intensive, your organization works directly with a leading designer in the space, drawing schematic site plans specific to your site. It includes scaled drawings, parking, trees, open space, and identification of potential architecture.

In partnership with [innerblock] Design Studio.

PART 03

Development Workshop

In a 2-day intensive cohort, organizations work directly with leading incremental development leaders in creating a development plan for your project, including market analysis, leadership, proforma, and a fundraising plan.

In partnership with the Incremental Development Alliance.

PART 04

Film Night /
Closing Event

As the final event of the Initiative, your cohort will invite community members to a closing film event curated by the Better Cities Film Festival.
